About me
Melyn Smith has been involved in educating children and mentoring staff and families for over 30 years. Born and raised in Mississippi, she earned a Bachelor of Education Degree from Mississippi State University in Elementary Education. She taught kindergarten at Mamie Martin Elementary School in Brookhaven, Mississippi before relocating to Augusta, Georgia where she was a Georgia Pre-K lead and mentor teacher with the U. S. Army Child, Youth, and School Services at Fort Eisenhower while obtaining her Master of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction for Educators from American InterContinental University. She is now employed with the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL), beginning as a Child Care Compliance Specialist within Child Care Services, the state’s licensing division and now as a Quality Assurance Consultant, where she assists with onboarding new hires and the Quality Assurance Initiative in Child Care Services.Melyn Smith has been involved in educating children and mentoring staff and families for over 30 years.
